Specially or Especially
Specially and especially sound pretty similar and both are adverbs but mean different things. Let's see!
Specially
This is an adverb that expresses the exact purpose of something. For example:
- She brought bread specially for you.
- I travel specially to see you.
Especially
This adverb means "above all " or "particularly." We use it to talk about one thing over others.
- Adam reads a lot, especially science fiction.
- I like to cook, especially spaghetti.
In American English, is more common to use "especially" instead of "specially".
